    Darters

    Brownsea has been a dead loss this year for birds and Tuesday as usual although there were a few around, too far away for shots, so concentrated on the dragonflies. Here is a selection of common darter plus one i have not seen for a couple of years, a ruddy darter

    All shot with 300 f4 and converter

            Cracking shots, I really like the one on the wire as it shows us just how small they are.

                      Hi Stan;

                      Those are terrific...

                      I made it across to Brownsea for a day-trip earlier in the year. Plenty of Terns (Common & Sandwich) around - but the only Dragon we saw was a Lesser Emperor - which I was quite happy to see, but no shots regrettably!

                      Cheers;

                      Lee

                          These are all beautiful as always, Stan!
                          I'm interested to know how much you crop a close up like these? The detail is still amazing, so I would think not much?

                            thanks guys

                            I visit Brownsea regularly, as its only 5 miles away, and usually there is a good vairey of waders close by but this year next to nothing near. Yes earlier there were loads of terns but now all the nesting islands have been fenced there is no chance of the "money" shots - the terns with ells about to land with wings and tail feathers outstretched

                            I'm interested to know how much you crop a close up like these? The detail is still amazing, so I would think not much?
                            the first two are full frame, the second two, slight crops - here are the original out of camera frames and straight from the computer just for illustration
