Tiger Beetle

This is a small beetle I saw on the sand close to the waters edge at Bunche Beach, Florida.
Found a picture on Google and discovered it is one of the family of ground beetles and on further investigation, id as this tiger beetle. They are carnivorous and actively hunt for any invertebrate prey they can overpower. They can run swiftly to catch their prey at speeds of up to 9 km/h – in relation to their body length they are among the fastest land animals on Earth.

I googled sand beetle in florida for images and this one came up with a link to Wikipedia and thought the info it gave was quite interesting and the speed did remind me that he was moving pretty fast when I saw him on the beach
