Nice shot but I do find the leaf behind the wing is distracting.

Pretty much the response I expected , as I know we have different views on this.

I know several photographers, including professional, who always carry scissors or even secateurs in their bag to remove distracting twigs, leaves etc before taking the shot. Personally I would prefer to remove them in LR or Photoshop.

Out of interest, if someone converts their photo to mono, do you also consider that picture to be fake?

                            Hi John
Yes I do carry Secateurs and a Leatherman Wave with me also a chainsaw if I'm on the ATV However something tells me if I had got the secateurs out to trim that leave behind the Meadow Brown, I somehow think it just might have flown off, I might be wrong Same goes for say, a Chaffinch in the hedge - "do you mind if I just snip that twig off before I take your picture". The pictures I take are of things I encounter on my 'walk-about's' - grab shots, its a case of what I see, is what I take, is what you get. If the birds sitting on top a stick with a clear blue sky behind so be it - I call them Field Guide Images . If its in the hedge with foliage behind it, then to me its still a good shot and I will post it on here. I'm trying to think who it was used to call them messy shots, it was something of a joke and laugh at the time. I don't take hundreds of shots, I still live in the film days - every shot must count. I could not be bothered to sit at a computer going through hundreds of shots.
What do I think of mono - I don't like wildlife shots in B&W. Do I think they are fake, no unless the pictures been altered, this and that cropped out, then it would be - but who would know.
So there we have it, would not do for all of us to be the same, take care stay safe.
