    Xestobium rufovillosum

    You can't see the Death Watch beetles because they are (I hope) long gone, but they leave evidence of their emergence behind. Theirs are the larger round holes, whilst the few small round holes are from Anobium punctatum (furniture beetle or, more commonly, wood worm).

    This is from the huge oak beam which straddles our lounge over the fireplace. The white bits are old lime mortar.

    Can I recommend Rentokil We had this problem some years back in the oak inglenook over the fire place. You could hear them tapping at night, quite eerie.
