Enjoyed rcarca's thread "Triffids" and the three shots. Reminded me that there is a plant with Trifid in its name - the Trifid Bur-Marigold, Bidens tripartita. The only shots I've got of it are on 35mm transparency, but this reference might pull up a photo of it.
Grows in wet, muddy places, river sides etc. When it branches it usually does so in threes, putting on flower heads in threes, with leaves that are three-lobed. Hence the tri in trifid. Sorry it's not a triffid.....
