    Well captured Tigerburnie, the two guillemots were having a right battle.

          Getting better I think, wind noise is a problem, tried making a wind sock and it didn't really work, might have to buy and external one I think, but trying to keep the weight down. I have tried using the 500mm Sigma, but it is just too heavy to handle, this was shot using the 100-400 with a 1.4 extender and it seemed to work well.

            Do think you need a Dead Cat on the mike. The other option is record the track on a field recorder

              They don't seem to make anything to fit the top handle mics, it is quite a large stereo mic and most of the DC's are too small, I tried using some water pipe lagging material, a foam type, didn't really work very well, better than nothing, but I am looking for other materials.

                Try Rycote. I use a Rycote Nano Shield mounted on a small pod.
