I prefer the portrait version, if you are taking the trouble to make a panorama then you may as well get the best possible output and that has to be in portrait mode. The extra foreground is a composition issue...assuming you have freedom to move forwards and backwards.
This makes a nice all season project...it would be good to see a set of four.
