I used an Epson flatbed scanner with the lid off. The object is a hand-held magnifying glass (with black plastic body). As the light travelled down the bed I moved the lens with it, varying the lateral position slightly. Had to wear black rubber gloves to hide my hand which would have reflected light.
The colours are from light being refracted through the lens. I boosted the colours by putting the output TIFF files from the scans into CS4 ACR, then into Photoshop to tidy up dust etc. Shot #2 has had polar-cordinates added in CS4.
No EXIF! They look much better on black.
