      Higher contrast no crop version for me, but I'd have shot it a little more straight on rather than from the side.

        Nicely done, John, I'm with the others on preferring the original crop with boosted contrast. But I see where you were going with the crop. I would have suggested simply taking the bottom off up to the top of the thistley-thing.

              I was going to suggest a crop, the same amount of the top but leave all the rest in place. The original is a little too elongated I feel. I often find with vertical shots that the 3:2 format is a bit too long and that something more akin to 5:4 or even 4:3 feel less 'stretched'.
