First attempt

Thanks to Fathers Day I now have a light box, so attempted a still life, are either any good? Should I have the vase or not? any advice or comments appreciated.

I think they may be a tad dark, vase or no vase, I would prefer no vase. Having said all that, I'm not into still life unless its something with two wings or four legs standing still which is not very often.

I'd say all the vase or none of it, preferably all in this case a the 1st image has a very messy, cut-off, feel. I suspect you chose the background to harmonise with the subject colour but for me the foliage is getting lost against it a bit too much. Agree that they feel a bit dark as well.
