Todays' Splash

Used water with the splash kit today with the main aim to capture some tall tendrils so added some xanthan gum to the water. 3 flashes, 2 behind glass with blue and orange gel, third in front and above with red gel and yellow food colouring in the tank

I started a bit early but might get another session before Xmas to try out a new acrylic perspex background just ordered off ebay - hoe to get a much smoother background

I ordered a frosted perspex background last year and found it to be very good, I also ordered some A3 sheets of coloured filter material that I clip to the back of the perspex and get lovely smooth backgrounds.

I look forward to seeing some more shots later.

I am currently using an old photo frame covered in greaseproof paper for the diffuser but that seems to give the slightly rippled background so hoping the Perspex will be better - interesting idea to put coloured material on the back

I thought i would have to order it on the net but someone from another forum said you could get it in Asda, Sainsburys or Tesco for around £2.50. Although the Asda website listed it on the shopping site, the local Asda didnt have it in stock but i was able to get it in Sainsburys

Lets try the other shot now too

Well captured, not an easy type of shot to get right.
For me the last image is the best one, I like the way the base of the 'splash' is clearer defined than the others with less darkness.

that area is quite a problem when you are shooting the guns through the perspex - quite aggressive use of the shadow/highlight tool to bring that area up
