Thank you one and all - steep learning curve but seriously love this set up - so much lighter handholding for 8>10 hours a day then the old set up.

Looking good, David. This combo is awesome

Have been playing round with my chum and her R3/100-500, as I said she does wildlife but much the same idea.

Your settings presumably BBF then Eye detection(set on vehicle) on the * button for the driver/car ?

Have you tried Eye Focusing yet ? Do you see it as useful for your type of photography ?

Canon EOS R5, R6 plus the usual suspects ......

                  Hey - thank you!

BBF every time, I tried lots of different af settings inc vehicle tracking with helmet selection on and off, ended up reverting to the old one point focus - being trackside the cars are almost full frame so tracking is a bit pointless, did try the eye focusing for a bit - very VERY strange to start with, not much good for what I do BUT can see great potential with wildlife or people / weddings etc. the ability to pick out say the bride in a crowd of people closer and further away will be game changing.

Biggest thing for me is the speed it locks on and sticks, I can see me having a lot of fun with this set up.

Have you tried the vehicle detection?

Hey, tried it a few times and for following single cars or bikes it is really very good, with bikes you can select it to grab onto crash helmets which is freakishly accurate.
Found with a close group coming at you it can be hit n miss to which it focuses on first. I still tend to use single point and am having some great results

Just put a separate post from Anglesey
