    Period mono shot in Sidmouth

I noticed this chap and thought he would make a good subject for mono, when he turned to read a fishing boat itinerary I noticed the lady to his left looking out to sea....and thought this could be a scene from anytime in the last 100 years....I'd already set a mono preset picture style so I just had to crop it a bit in DPP.

I like that Brian, can see where you are coming from. Wonderful photographic opportunities in Sidmouth in two week time when the annual Folk Festival takes place. I always threaten to go over but never seem to get there.

The B&W treatment works well for this image.

That’s a very well spotted timeless scene Brian, It definitely needs B/W, wouldn’t work in colour. A very good pic. Like it.

PS showed this to my elderly mother without making saying anything and her immediate comment was that it was a very old picture and she was surprised that it wasn’t!

          That is good.
Just the sort of image I'm looking for at the moment , for a small club competition.
Subject is B&W landscapes, so I want a similar scene where the image could have been takien at any time in the last century.
Apart from the two guys in the modern style shorts, anything else that could be linked to the 21st century doesn't show.

Thanks All….and thanks for that Ian….I guess that’s the best validation of an image ‘working’.

DEG5Y…I’d recommend setting a custom picture style…or just use the mono….with RAW+JPEG…I think this helps rather than post processing colour…..you probably do that anyway.

I was planning on taking both, colour and mono, that way I can compare the two after my attemptsat post processing the colour to B&W.
Just need to find the suitable location.

That is a great mono shot. Remands me of the great days of film photography.

The detailed photo looks great in B&W, well done.
