Brings back some lovely memories of when we had our own hot air balloon.

You're right about the noise - a double burner produces the equivalent of around 7,000 brake horse power - you can't do that on the quiet!

Great shot Colin, you've obviously been ballooning, assuming the shot was taken from a balloon. Done a couple of balloon trips, the most memorable being the one and only one I did in Kenya that went dramatically wrong on landing.

Braver man than me Colin to go up in one of those, they do make fantastic subjects though with their bright colours and different shapes and structures.

Sometimes I get a call out of the blue "Would you be interested in photographing xxxxxxxxxx"?

Well this time it was John Adams who owned the children's toy Fuzzy Felt. He wanted some publicity shots of the Fuzzy Felt Balloon, which he owned. Apparently the cost and running expenses of his Balloon just happened to be the marketing budget for the company. That made his hobby free.

I agreed and we met at stupid o'clock in Southampton for an early morning take-off and fly over the New Forest. He was fairly easy whether I stayed on the ground and just did the preparation and take-off shots, or whether I joined him in the basket and did some arial shots. He, he, ........... no contest, I'm going flying!
