6D1-9562 by Bob Owen, on Flickr

42 year old HST Power Car 43083 in East Midlands Trains livery but with East Midlands Railway branding at Nottingham. The Midland Main Line will soon be the last place to see a British Built Inter City train.

Nice shot Bob, what a pity no more British Inter City loco's. Where will they come from now, China, everything else at the moment seems to be coming from there.

Good light is maximising the colour of this spot-on composition...thanks for the context
we’ve been missing out in the UK with having to tender infrastructure contracts across the EU....hopefully we can now regenerate in this respect. Hope that isn’t to political.

              Thanks for the comments everyone.

Trev/Brian - Separate locomotives (I include HST Power cars) for long distances work are virtually history now in these days of Hitachi Units from Japan.
Still a few British Electric locomotives around together with older Freight Classes around but all modern stuff is from USA/Canada/Spain these days.

Thanks - the colours are from the now defunct East Midlands Trains franchise which changed to East Midlands Railway late last year. I can't imagine how many different liveries these have had in their lifetime.
EMR's livery is a rather nice purple but I doubt whether the HSTs will ever carry it as they are due to be phased out by the end of the year.

Thanks Colin - the new logo is one of my abstract paintings - just another of my interests.
