Great shot Trev, an unusual low angle, hard on the knees getting up from this position.

No David, I was standing up ten yards or so away! I bedded the camera down beside the track on a Bean Bag - there's Rice in mine! then placed two more on top. Set a high shutter speed - the ground vibrates when a train passes. Then used a long extension lead from my 'Timer Remote Controller' to fire the shutter. I worked out when to press by counting the upright railing - hey presto when it got to the third from the right - FIRE.
The amusing thing was, I set it all up, then this chap arrived armed with the contents of a camera shop - tripod the lot. He looked at me somewhat suspiciously seeing the lead running away from hand into the bushes - enquiring if I was intending to the blow the train up. I explained the pile of bags on the bank was my camera to which he was horrified, worried that someone could pinch it.
I was quite pleased with the result, straight out of the camera no mucking about with it.

Excellent shot Trev - I had hoped to see the tour going past us, but the rotten blighters went round the Bath route rather than straight down the Exeter line - rats!!

Fabulous shot - the low angle really does suit locomotive photography.

Nice to know how it was done too.

Great shot Trev, the low POV really emphasises the majesty of the loco.
