Having tested the focusing on my R6M2 in some small way I thought that I would try out two other features that are quite new, Raw Burst mode (where pics are taken before the shutter is pressed) and Digital Magnification
For the Raw Burst I used my EF100-400 mounted on a tripod with a cord release on the camera. It was set to electronic shutter, fastest rate (H+) and the shutter speed was set to 1/2000. The subject was just the gold finches on the bird feeder. I had to wait until some arrived then held the release half pressed until they flew when it was fully pressed. Not surprisingly my reaction times are no where near fast enough and the normal shots showed nothing, they had already gone! However there were pics in the burst mode file (which you can see on camera). I have attached frames 2,3 & 4. These are saved as CR3 files so do need processing, All I have done is basic processing in Lightroom and cropping.
Because the camera was focused on the nearest birds eye when he was feeding, that is the distance the focus is fixed at during the burst sequence. However when the gold finch flew off he moved away from that plane so gets further out of fucus as the shots progress, these are the best.

Overall I think that they have come out quite well and without this mode getting pics like these would have been pure luck.
The second feature to test was the digital magnification. I focused on the goldfinch at the maximum 400mm and set it to take JPEG only, (digital magnification doesn't work if you include raw files). I then set it to X4 magnification on the basis that if you were going to see anything this was going to show the most effect. There is also a x2 mode. The pic below is the result. I have not processed this pic at all, this is straight from the camera. My picture style by the way is set to Fine Detail.

I think that this has come out quite well, the noise level is fine and there is still a lot of detail so seems to be a feature that could be useful
