This is in praise of the Canon G15 which was used to record a Pilgrimage on Bank holiday Monday (5th May 2014) when people from the St.Asaph Diocese, North Wales went to the Glasgow (St. Mungos) cathderal to honour it's Patron saint, St Kintergern alias St.Mungo. To explain this unique trip a brief background, will hopefully be not out of place. History has on record that when St.Kintergern had to flee Clyde,he sought refuge in Wales, via Cumbria, staying for a time with St.David at St.David's. He then moved on to Gwynedd where he founded a Cathedral at Llanelwy- St.Asaph in English. In Llanelwy(St.Asaph) he had a disciple called Asaph who helped him in his ministry. Kentigern would frequently pray standing in the icy cold river -river Elwy.On one occasion, having suffered very serverely under this hardship,he sent the boy Asaph to bring some burning coal to burn and warm him. Asaph brought the live coals in his apron without it burning through his apron. Kintergern noted the sanctity of the boy and when he was recalled to Strathclyde, after the battle of Arfderydd, Asaph was consecrated Bishop in 573 to succeed him and become the first Welsh bishop of St.Asaph.
