    Downtown Abbey- Ampleforth, Yorkshire

Spending a few days in Yorkshire- Wetherby and Wass. Took the opportunity to visit the "famous" Downtown Abbey- aka Ampleforth Abbey & College.

    I took only my G15.

Thanks Tom and Bill for taking a look. Yes, I have enjoyed Yorkshire and hope to get back home tomorrow. I went up to Whetherby, stayed over there and then went to Wass to Stanbrook Abbey- which is in the process of being built; actually to see some Benedictine nuns who had moved from Worcester Abbey some 5 years ago- Old "friends"! From Wass went to Downtown Abbey (Ampleforth) & now back in Wetherby where I am staying (Days Inn). I enoyed the open countryside and the moors.

Hi Nat - good set of images - I believe the ITV series - Downton Abbey _ was mostly shot at Highclere Castle near Newbury. I have visited recently and it is a wonderful place to see. It was the home of Lord Carnarvon who discovered Tutenkhamen's tomb. I know Ampleforth very well as I was brought up in N Yorks.
If you’ve been watching Downton Abbey on Sunday evenings, you may have noticed that one of our stately homes seems to have gone missing. STEPHEN…
