    It aint what you got...

I've been looking over some older images and processing them (in Lightroom) for the first time so here's a series with one thing in common - they were all shot on a 4mp G2. It was my first 'serious' digital camera (it cost £600 in 2003!) and I took it everywhere so many images here were shot at dawn.

Very early one misty morning in Somerset:

Ian, it would be curtains for a lot of us were our wives to see our postings as they may then learn just how much we spend on our 'harmless little hobby'

                        Thanks folks.

Very true Nat. I used the birth of my first grandson as an excuse to buy the G2 and was amazed by the quality that still impresses today. I did have a 640k camera that was a fun introduction to digital photography but I knew I wanted something better and, as I'd been using Canon EOS cameras since their introduction, had two bodies and a collection of lenses, getting a Canon digital was obvious even if I couldn't then afford a Canon DSLR.

I used it for a few years until my second grandson celebrated his birthday by knocking it out of my hands just as I was trying to take his picture - gratitude! Now wrecked and BER I got the then current G10 as a replacement - a camera I still use today and almost as much as my 7D.

                        Cheers,
                        John

Re: It aint what you got...

A really good set - particularly like the Windfarm one.

The G series have always seemed to have good lenses so even with "only 2MP" that's what counts.

Always amuses me at work, I have a Windows desktop of a sunset taken among the rocks on a North Cornwall beach. Various people have admired it, then several times there have been comments that I must have been using an expensive camera, as it's pin sharp.

It was actually shot with a 4 MP Nikon (no apology for saying that) Compact that somebody gave me! A good lens and being in the right place...

Any more to come from the G2 worth sharing with us?
