    Torquay under a cloud!

This old image, shot on a 4mp Canon G2, is not great quality but provides an example of the strange clouds that roll in off the sea. Often a bank of cloud sits at the mouth of Torbay just nibbling at the extremities yet occasionally it can reach and envelope the eastern edges of the Bay; Torquay and Berry Head.

Fascinating shot. That cloud reminds me of the old horror movie 'The Fog'...

                    Thanks Nat and Sid

I have a print somewhere I'll have a look for. It was a shot I took from up in the hills surrounding the Bay looking down on the Bay filled with fog. The fog, which looked just like cotton wool, was quite shallow and didn't reach inland. Unfortunately this was the day of the Cowes - Torbay - Cowes powerboat race and lots of boats came charging into it but many didn't slow down with one crashing ashore alongside a family who were having a picnic while another hit a tanker!

                    Cheers,
                    John
