It wasn't intended to be a JoGLE run (and it took three weeks) but, as I was in Falmouth for the weekend, it seemed like a good idea at the time to ride over to Lands End before heading home and, had the sun shone as it had on Saturday, it would have been. However, it rained continuously for the whole 220 miles with much low cloud making the ride uncomfortable and occasionally damn well dangerous... just to tick a box!
I hadn't been to Lands End for years but it's so commercialised I shouldn't have been surprised to find 'The Sign' behind a barrier and a booth housing a pro photographer with the franchise to take celebratory shots. For this he customises the sign by adding a 'finger' pointing to whatever part of the planet you are from. I declined his offer and plonked the bike (having received special permission to ride it slowly with flashing hazards down the footpath) outside the barrier with the photo being taken by a willing volunteer using my camera.
Cheers,
John
