Thanks Doug. Looked back through my trip diary and we were in Whakatane on the 12 Feb 1985! We had 10 weeks in NZ for that trip (and another 6 weeks 10 years later) so I’ve seen quite a lot of NZ

Thanks Farider .. I'm not sure it has a specific name as it's part of a very long coastline heading into Wakatane on the East Coast.

The first photo was taken at the height of Summer.
Lots of room with almost no people which is usual away from the big cities.
Jealous? :)
