    Canon G1 X Mk2 Compact

As most of you are aware I recently had to part with my beloved DSLR outfit due to medical reasons and since then have been shopping around for a Canon "compact" to enable me to stay a member of this forum. The camera i chose is the G1X Mk2 and was wondering is anyone else here uses one, if so what is their opinion of it? A sensible choice given my circumstances or not. I would certainly like to hear from others their opinion on this querky offering from Canon. I am still OK and well into stage two of my treatment which is Chemo tabs so things are pretty good my end at the moment. Regards to you all, Ian W.

Not used one but remember reading good reviews. Couple of interesting extras too. An electronic viewfinder and a grip.

Glad your still on the forum and hope to see some images from your new acquisition.

I have a lot of time for the Powershots and am on my second although my current G10 is getting on now it has served me well as my biking camera as it really is 'pocketable'.

Even the G2 which preceded it had great optics far superior to other compacts family members have had so I'm in no doubt that you'll get great results from your G1X.

I keep looking for a replacement for my G10 but a M series doesn't work for me due to the protruding lenses making them too big for a pocket but your G1X may well be just what I need

                          All the very best Ian.

                          Cheers,
                          John

This camera looks to be able to produce good images, quite customisable too. Compacts like these, I use a Panasonic one, are very capable bits of kit.

Fully agree John. I've got a G16 would not be without it, especially on walks over Dartmoor, Easily slips in the pocket, lightweight and takes some cracking shots.
