Does anyone have any information about when the Canon sx40hs bridge camera will be available in the uk.

Canon site says October. Others say end of October.

Have just found out that Jessops have it available to order and collect from store.

What made you choose a bridge camera in preference to a DSLR OR do you already have a DSLR?

Yes I have had SLR Canon cameras in the past and the the longest zoom lens that I ever had was the 2.8 300mm lens which was affordable back then for me but not now.( Sold it sometime ago.)
This camera has a zoom lens up to 840mm, can you imagine how much a canon lens would be !!!
I know the image quality could,nt possibly be as good as an SLR with a prime lens but I think that the new sx40hs from canon is probably one of the best around at the moment.
I will let you know and also hopefully post some images.

Hopefully there is an image of a squirrel attached.
This is a still taken from video from the sx40hs.
Not sure what the quality is like from the download but I have printed this out at A4 size and it's very good.
Well pleased with all that the camera can do.
