Download problem

I bought myself a 1000d last year and when i had taken some photos i just connected to my pc and the eos utility menu came up and i clicked the download button and my images went into the ddp no problem, i`ve recently bought a second hand 1d mk2 and trying to do the same thing it goes into ps elements 9 organiser or my pictures on my pc and do you think i can get the images into dpp oh no and it`s starting to hack me off now , i`ve tried everything even getting a firewire cable and card on canons advice that won`t even get recognised , so my question is how do you do it ? is there someone with a 1d mk2 that can help? i`ve downloaded the codex software and that hasn`t helped either, Harvey, oh and please bear in mind when it comes to computers and software your dealing with an idiot !! if you need more info i`ll try to oblige if i can
