It is always interesting to see what Apple will bring out. I am quite interested in seeing if they have upgraded there iMacs. The new iPad seems interesting.

I don't think the iMacs are up for upgrade, although I could be wrong it depends which "rumors" site you read - but the large Ipad is on offer and could be interesting, especially if its got Yosemite installed - whether that would make me go for a Ipad over a laptop I'm not sure

I'm assuming there will be new iMacs with "retina display", in which case I'll be going for an "older" one, but it depends ... I most certainly am in the market for a new 27" iMac. I thought the Apple announcement was Thursday 16th though?

Just looked Jock, yes its the 16th

How come you don't like the idea of retina display? The Macbook I was looking at has retina display and interested to hear why you don't rate it

Really need the latest bug fix to iOS 8. The last iOS 8 bug fix did not address the Bluetooth "gotcha" plus some communication "gotchas"
iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 5S both running iOS 8.0.2 and both with the "gotchas"

looks like it may not be such a big event now

Re: Another new toy from Apple

Ian, I didn't say I didn't like retina display, (although re-reading my post I see how you could jump to that conclusion) but for me it's not the be all and end all - if Apple, by introducing a new iMac with a retina display means they will drop the price of the previous models, then I'll go for the cheaper option. I've been using Apple kit for years now and don't have any retina display machines, but I have no problems with the existing displays.

My eight year old 24" iMac has an excellent display and is still doing what I want it to do ... mostly. One or two little things make me look to the upgrade, the main one being I can't upgrade OS X past Mountain Lion ... the webcam stopped working ... and the bigger 27" display on the new models - plus I've been saving up for a long time for the upgrade and I would only spend the money on a new lens as it's now burning a hole in my pocket!

I went into our local Apple dealer at the weekend with a friend with the intention of buying a 27" i7 iMac - I took my friend because he is quite good at telling me not to buy things. The salesman advised me to wait until the Apple announcement - not that they know anything, but he said he expected an upgrade in the iMac as it's due one. My friend on the other hand walked out with a brand new 15" MacBook Pro!

Supposed to just be the new iPad's. I want to get an iMac and waiting to see when / if / what spec the new ones will be. May consider replacing my iPad mini if the 3rd generation one is that much better.

I'm interested to see what this Ipad pro is going to offer as I still may consider that over buying a MacBook

I jumped straight in at the deep end going from PC straight to i7 iMac so can't say - but the Mac handles multiple programs running that other PCs struggle with, right now running is PS / LR and some other quite heavy programs with no hanging - I'm only rebooting a couple times a month as the Mac never gets turned off - its a great machine and well worth the investment

I hardly ever turn mine off. Mine is the 27" Core i5 with 8Gb. Keep meaning to upgrade the RAM to 16 or 32 but it handles everything I want. I just wish i had got the fusion drive at the time. I could swap it out for one, but It's just laziness.

The only thing that bumps my hump is the constant need to change the keyboard and magic mouse batteries. They don't last long at all, and if your mouse ones run out it's a pain in the butt halfway through doing stuff. I could get a wired one but it's one more thing the cat will chew through lol
