      Re: Graphics tablets

I use a Wacom Intuos Pro (medium) and would not go back to editing using a mouse or even the trackpad on my iMac.
One thing I learnt is if you have a large screen go for a larger tablet. I started with the small Wacom which I loved, but on my 27" iMac it was just too small, having upgraded to a medium tablet editing just seems that little bit slicker and easier.

Father Christmas did bring me the Wacom Intuos Graphics Tablet, that I had put on my Christmas List.

Just need to adapt to using it now, as opposed to the mouse.

Yes I got one too, the Intuos pen and touch and wireless kit for it.

It's been a really bugger to get the driver to install and work. Still not sure I have it working eveny time I need it.

Excellent Phlearn vid on YouTube as to the best way to set it up.

            Hi Alan

I had the same problem in getting the driver to work properly, because I let it download itself from the Wacom website, as the installation instructions recommended.

However. I then uninstalled the driver, and installed it (and the software), from the enclosed CD, and it all worked fine.

Strange, I set up the one I bought for my daughter with no problem at all. It worked first time.

Dave, I followed the 'comprehensive instructions' like you and did the same. Basically ignored it when it didnt work and did my own thing. Only now when I turn the PC on it tells me that the driver isnt running. I have to go into the servcies panel and restart the Tablet driver and Wacom services too. Now this might be because I have the wireless set up rather than wired. Glad I did as the cable is so short.

Dave, I know this thread is from a long time ago, but I was just wondering how you are getting on with the graphics tablet. A sort of 9 month service interval/update!

                      Re: Graphics tablets

To be honest Richard, apart from an initial 'play', I haven't used it. Firstly, because the shots I was taking over the latter part of the winter, didn't call for any editing, but just a bit of processing. Then I got the unwelcome news that I had Bowel Cancer, and had major surgery in April, to remove a section of my lower Bowel.

To 'top' this, the wound became infected, which 'knocked me for six', and resulted in having a nurse in every day, to 'pack' the wound. All this restricted my photography to the garden, so again no call for editing with the tablet. However, the good news is that the Cancer, having been caught early, hadn't spread, and tumour was effectively removed.

Today, I was discharged from the daily nurse visits, as the wound is now well healed, and I go back into hospital at the end of the month, for the 'follow up' surgery, to re-connect my Bowel to its normal exit point (lol).

Hopefully, I can then get back to normal, and get back out with the camera, and then maybe make use of the tablet.

So, sorry that I can't offer any useful feedback on the graphics tablet yet.

Dave so sorry to hear about the Bowel Cancer at least it is good news that it hasn't spread. Hope you manage to get out again soon with the camera. Good luck with the next bit of surgery.

                          Thanks Paul.

There is another member of this forum who, apart from the wound infection, went through exactly the same ordeal/process as me, and he is back to enjoying an active life, enjoying his photography, and posting the results here on the forum.

Can you use such tablets with all the photo editing software?
                            With kind regards,
