    Starting problems from "sleep" mode!

I hope a member could help/advice me on this. In the last two days, when I put my computer to "sleep" mode, I find that it does not click back into life when I click my mouse. I find that the blue light on the conputer tower come on but the orange light on the monitor stays put i.e in organge; it should turn blue to indicate that it is about to "start". I have therefore had to switch off manually by pressing the manual start button and also re-start by pressing the start button manually. The latter process is normal as I would do this anyway when I switch off the computer. I do not know whether there is a problem with my 6 year old HP Paviliion desk top computer and whether needs attention. I might add that I have all the anti virus packages in place and they are always "working"- AVG Free, Macfee (came with my broadband).

Any advice will be much welcome.

    Thanks

    Nat

I can't comment on the problems resuming but have you really got two virus scanners running? From memory that's a recipe for really poor response...

Yes, Andy. I have got 3 anti virus software and these have worked fine for me in the past. Would you suggest that I remove 2 of them?

More than one is a recipe for issues. Once spent a lot of time resolving computer issues at a local golf club, time from start-up or hibernate was 20-25 minutes.

Once I removed 3 of the 4 anti-virus programs!! The system would resume from hibernate in a matter of seconds, start-up was still a bit slow due to it being a bit of an old system but was only 3-5 minutes.

Bit surprised you haven't had some issues before Nat.

It is surprising that the problem seems to have cured itself. No problems today. Anyway, I will remove one of the 3 AV programs I have just to be on the safeside.

Which box/power supply did you have to replace? My problem is sort of intermittent in that everything is fine for a good few days and then I get this problem.

P.S I find that I don't get this problem when I switch off and re-start the computer. Probably I was leaving my computer on "sleep" mode for long periods of time.
