      Is your problem sorted now?

If not, what operating system? The Canon codec for Windows Vista or Windows 7 does not work if you have a 64 bit OS.

Do your raw files display a thumbnail image in explorer for your internal disks?

        Re: external hd issue

I've had an email from canon saying I change my cameras string to ptp so when I've done that I'll give an update assuming I can find where to do it lol

"PTP" i think is the connection method, you can select this from your menu, but i am not sure how that will help you, as far as i know it just changes it from a "Mass Storage" connection to one you can plug into a Printer for "Pict Bridge"

Sounds more like uf your on x64 OS then you either need the latest canon RAW Codec or if that does not work wait until Canon update it.

I've had another email from canon telling me ptp isn't available on the 1d mk2 and the answer is a FireWire , I must admit I'm impressed with the level of help canon uk are giving me considering they are dealing with a computer numpty

Cant see how firewire will help as its a filetype issue

have a look on microsofts knowledge base look for raw codecs
