    Canon R6 Error 70 issues

Some info if anyone else suffers a failed Mainboard.
My R6 developed a fault a few weeks back that flashed up Error 70 then just displayed screen full of Rainbow lines. After much searching on the internet it appeared to be either a Mainboard or Sensor fault. As the camera is nearly 3 years old now I took it to a much trusted Canon repair specialist who confirmed it was the Mainboard and said it would be around £900 inc labour to fix (it was a free quote service). As this is probably two thirds of value of the body I was resigned to writing off the camera. As i am a member of Canon Professional Services (joined for free and now a Gold member), I contacted them and was given some 'unauthorised' advice that as a CPS member it may not cost that much to repair. I bit the bullet and sent it to them for a repair, they replaced the Mainboard and it cost me £350 in total so i was quite pleased. However a day after getting it back the EV and LCD screens stopped working, so I sent back for repair again, they have once more replaced the Mainboard and hopefully it will last now. For all R6 users my suspicion is Canon knows there's a fault on earlier Mainboards so if you have same issue try Canon CPS first before shelling out big bucks.

Thank you very much for alerting us to this. I had never heard of an Error 70 and it sounds like I don’t want to meet it either.
I also did not know about CPS and since I have a shed load of Canon stuff I will check this out

      Hi Bo

Canon CPS is/or about to change to a subscription type model, previously it was a free service. The level of service was dependent on the kit that you have.

Thanks for the info…mine is quite a bit later . Yes. I have CPS…seems like they want you to pay a subscription ….not sure what the benefit is, I know they are supposed to repair quicker but there is nothing quantifiable
