EOS 5 eyecup problem

Hi all this is my first thread in this forum so here goes.....
I am trying to repair the command dial "sticking and very difficult to turn problem" I have the camera stripped down but I can't get to the two screws behind the eyecup because I cannot get the eyecup off for love nor money. Does anyone know how to shift this thing? I must be supid or overlooking something very simple surely?

Any help will be very much appreciated.

Put both thumbs underneath it and press upwards, should slide off easily.
