    Macro Ring Flash

    Looking to buy a cheap ring flash for macro shots as cannot afford canon own brand ,anybody used 3rd party macro ring flash and what where the results like ,any info would be great

    Can't help you at the moment as I'm thinking about the same thing, so interested in what folk have to say.

    I am in two minds though about a ring flash or a ring LED light, though tending towards the LED with adjustable intensity and continuous illumination so more suitable for multi-shot burst when hand held.

      Have a look at Yongnou YN14EX, excellent value and looks just like the Canon version.

        I have the Canon version but as Bill says the Yongnou version is value for money.

          Thanks for the info regarding the Yongnou - I have looked at that flash and K&F or kenro macro flash ,just deciding on which will suit my needs ,has anybody used any kenro or K&F flash guns

              I have the Yongnou YN14EX.....and I don't use it, I prefer off camera flash as I've had more success that way.....see accessories for sale/classified

                (I've never developed an interest in macro and sold my 100mm L lens earlier in the year)

                  I have the Neewer Macro TTL Ring Flash. Again all I can say is it does everything that you would expect of a ring flash. Cost a penny short of £76.

                    I've seen Martin Parr use one for portraits....gives a distinctive reflection in the eyes.

                      I have been using the Nissin MF18 Ring Flash for a few years now, and it has been both effective, and reliable.
