    Canon 300 f/4l is

    Has anyone any experiance using a canon 300 F/4L IS lens for motorcycle racing, just wanted to no how it performs.

    I used the 300mm f/4.0L IS with and without the 1.4x extender on my 5D2 at Silverstone a couple of years ago and it was pretty much faultless. Any missed shots were mostly user error, but there wasn't many.

    If you listen to some people on the 'net, I shouldn't have be able to use that combo for fast action photography. Kind of blew that misconception out of the water!!

    I've had mine for 13 years now and it's an excellent lens and it rarely let's me down. If you're thinking about buying it then I can highly recommend it.

      I've not owned one but looking at some of the images posted on this site using this lens, it gives excellent results.

        Works fine with racing yachts with/without the 1.4x. Whilst these don’t move as fast as ‘bikes the tracking etc. is down to your handling technique, setting the right custom functions (on the 7D for example) and focus point options.

              Just bought this lens for bird photography. Hope to post some pics soon- when the weather gets better.
