Which Second Hand Macro Lens?

Can someone please help me out on which Macro lens to buy second-hand up to £500 for my 5D MK3, thank you.

Colin in the main I use a Canon 100mm 2.8L IS USM, I do have the canon 180mm Macro and also the Sigma 180mm Macro, don't ask me why, I just think sometimes it a good idea to buy something! I must admit I prefer the Sigma 180 to the Canon 180.
Why don't you pop into Mifsuds in Brixham, near to you., They have SH ones and will let you try them out.
I say go for the Canon 100mm, its a cracking lens. Everything I've put on here in the Small creature section over the past few weeks have been taken using the 100mm.

Colin me again! Just looked up Mifsuds, they got the Canon 100mm f2.8 USM for £349 and the Canon 100mm f2.8L IS USM for £799 both SH.
They will give you excellent advice and service, I get all my gear from them, have done for years - wife thinks I got shares in the place

The Canon 100mm f2.8L IS USM has image stabilisation , it is a help at high magnifications and will allow the use of slower shutter speeds , which is very handy for gaining that extra depth of field often needed in Macro . Of Note , the afore mentioned lens wont take Canon converters , but the Kenco 1.4 pro converter is a very good alternative . I do use a 5Dmklll and find the 100mm Macro a fine lens , but like most wildlife related things , I whish it had a bit more reach , it can hunt a bit with the kenco 1.4 attached , particularly if your shooting handheld . I hope that is of some use to you .

While the Canon 100mm f/2.8 L macro is amazing it probably won't make the budget. I'd suggest avoiding the Canon 100 f/2.8 Macro USM as it's crap as a non- macro lens... been there, done that...

The EF100f2.8L does make an excellent portrait lens too..it’s the only macro I’ve tried ....depending how close you need to get, Ive seen some great butterfly shots with a 100-400....slower but excellent and MK1 can be under £500 budget
