    RF50f/1.8 STM or RF50/f.1.2L USM

At the Photography Show at the NEC today (first time I've been post pandemic) I tried these two lenses on my R6... the L lens is 10x more expensive of course.
Can you spot which photo wast taken with which lens...(look on Flickr - to see if you guesed right).

Obvious really - the guy was far happier being photographed with an L lens

I was there the same day Brian and tried the same lenses. I didn't intend to buy anything substantial, but temptation got in the way. I wasn't wearing my "Big Boys Pants" and didn't want to incur too much wrath from Mrs C, so I looked at some used 50mm F1.2's. There were three available from two different Company's and they were all at the same price of 1,880. I didn't go for it, but during later conversations with Canon and London Camera Exchange, I got a new one for just 105 more. Came away rather happy ............... until I arrived home!

Hey Colin...good to hear from you!
I've just received mine today from HDEW (1629)...I know the risks but I've never had a problem with them - crossed fingers!
I was also tempted at LCE with a second hand Canon AE-1 with 50mm f1.4......but I wasn't happy that it doesn't have full manual.....but it was mint and would have looked great on the shelf (350).

Hi Brian, glad to be here.

I keep thinking of film, probably with nostalgic rose tinted glasses, but:
              • Could I really put up with just 36 shots at a time?
              • Using the same ASA for the whole role?
              • Manual focus lenses?
              • A motor drive with 3 shots per second?
              • Spending hours in the darkroom?

Hmmm ............... suddenly I am happier with mirrorless.

I had a dabble with a Leica M with manual everything…enjoyed the photo taking experience but the photos are still digital….I think film would provide character on top….but not sure I can be bothered really….maybe when I’m retired
