    Print Profile (a dark art...?)

    Can anyone help me please...???

When printing from Lightroom on my Canon 6700d printer, I have the option of allowing the printer to choose the profile, or assigning one myself, depending on what paper I'm using....

    1. What profile should I use for Canon Photo Paper Pro II...?
    2. Is it best just to let the print driver decide...???

    Dougie.

    Dougie,
Is there a driver setting for the actual paper you are using ? If there is use the associated icc profile if available. Results should be not far off. A custom profile would be better but not critical unless you are sticking to one type of paper/output setting.

If you're using Canon paper in a Canon printer with Canon ink I don't think there is very much point in having LR handle the colour management. Just make sure that you select the correct paper type in the Canon printer dialog.

If/when you decide to use different paper and/or ink in your printer then you should use a profile designed for that particular printer/paper/ink combination. When you do you should ensure that you switch off colour management in the Canon printer dialog.
