    EOS 40D and Windows 7

I am running Windows 7 official version.
I can view my EOS 40D with Windows and I can download from it manually or using Adobe Bridge which is part of Photoshop CS4.
However Canon's EOS utillity only works some of the time. Most times it does not recognize the EOS40D but strangley, it does sometimes !!
Anyone else seeing this with Windows 7 ?

In my experience Win& has some serious issues with USB devices. When installing it you have to disconnect all your USB devices and if your USB device is not Win 7 approved it will not work. I wonder if this is something to do with your problem. Probably the 40D is 'too old' to be Win 7 compliant. On Canon's website there are the latest codecs that are supposed to be compatible with Win 7 it may be worth downloading these and trying again. Sorry I can't be of more help but half of my USB devices don't work with Win 7.

Re: EOS 40D and Windows 7

So far this is the only problem I have had with Windows 7. What gets me, is the itermittent nature of this problem. As I say Windows 7 does not seem to have a problem, more like the EOS utillity.

Did you upgrade to 7 or was it a fresh install ?

Try re-installing the EOS utility. I am having no issues with 7 and my 1Dmk3

Interesting that you are not having problems
I did a full format/installation of Windows 7 and have uninstalled and reinstalled the EOS utillity a few times now. It is also the latest edition 2.6.1.0

I may have finally hit on something !
I have a Bluetooth dongle fitted to this PC for communication with my mobile.
It may possible be this that is conflicting.
I removed it and the EOS utillity seems to be working now.
