Clone tool cursor glitch in PS Elements 19

All of a sudden, after editing a downloaded image, the cursor of the clone tool turned into the outline of an edited Greek word and remains the same despite my efforts to change it from the Edit>Preferences>Cursors window. I shut down and restarted my PC (Windows 10) but to no avail.
Any possible cure before I uninstall/reinstall Elements? Thank you.

Do you have a reset under Preferences? On CC this is on the Edit menu.

I use Elements as well, have just checked and under Edit>Preferences>General there is a Reset Preferences on Next Launch.

You could try that as BobSapey suggests before uninstalling the programme.

Thank you both for your responses. I did reset preferences but did by pressing and holding Alt+Shift before programme launch...

Any idea how one can choose between mm and cm in the units section of preferences? mm and cm are grouped together as "cc/mm". On "image size" it appears as mm and I have to correct it each time to cm, but it does not last! (before resetting I did not have this problem).

        Thank you,
