A few from Skye (In Camera HDR)

    Hi all

Photography has been on the back burner for me for quite a few years now due to mobility issues. Still not well enough to "get out there" with a tripod, but have managed a few "step out of the car" shots (literally) on my recent holiday on the Isle of Skye. Thought I'd try an experiment with the 5Ds & 7D2's in camera HDR function. Both camera's were set to Art Vivid, with +-2 stops (there may be the odd one with 3 stops). These are the resulting Jpegs the camera produces. Have tried to upload 4 images from Flickr with no success (that dreaded error message). Will try to add 1 image and see how it goes before trying the others.

They look excellent Lez.....and not unlike I'd expect to see in a travel brochure....every bit as good if not better.
Its nice to see camera output too rather than the product of post processing.

HDR has really brought out the colours and not too over the top.

Agreed. The in-camera HDR has done a good job.

I need to go to Skye!
Me too. Although Islay first, I think.

Re: A few from Skye (In Camera HDR)

Thanks for the comments everyone, much appreciated.

As an aside - I tried the other 4 settings for in camera HDR, Natural, Art Standard, Art Bold & Art Embossed

Natural setting came out flat and wishy washy looking
Art Standard setting I also found flat
Art Bold was too over the top for me
Art Embossed - too arty for my liking.

So Art Vivid did it for me best. I used full manual (usually set at 1/125 @ f11/f16) with auto iso.

I'm a little sceptical when it comes to automating processes such as this but you have got some decent results

Trev and Chris: yes you do need to o to Skye - the home of stunning scenery and Talisker

Excellent images, Lez, the in camera processing has done a great job. My favourites are the second and last, both with great clouds and the dot of white interest from the building.

Great set, not normally a fan of HDR but these are excellent.
