    Water droplets

I'm having trouble getting water droplets sharp. I've made them with a mix of water and glycerin, dropped them on glass which is set over upturned table legs and have put coloured paper underneath, about 8" away. My 60d and sigma macro lens is inverted on my tripod. I'm wondering if just the little movement of the tripod, it's a flimsy but great manfrotto b free, is causing the droplets not to be sharp? I'm having trouble focusing anyway, am using manual focus and settings but struggling. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Could you post one or two examples along with your exif data- then maybe someone could give you more specific help.

Meantime I take it you are using a remote control to fire the shot?

I'm having trouble uploading from photobucket!
The above post is the best I can do on my iPad. Have attached the exif data.

            Re: Water droplets

I suspect this is the problem: Exposure: 1/3s

That's way to slow to freeze the water droplets without using flash. Use an external flash if you have one.

I suspect you are a bit too close to the subject for the pop-up flash to illuminate the droplet, rather than way above it (or below it if the camera is inverted as you say).

If you can't use a flash, then you need to aim at a shutter speed of about 1/500s.
You've got the aperture set to F13, so you could open that up a bit, and/or use an external light source to brighten things up.
