Canon TC-80N3 Remote vs 3rd Party Version

There is quite a difference in price so is it worth going OEM in this instance?

For whatever reason, I have both.

They both work equally well, but the non OEM eats batteries. To the extent that I put in a new battery and everything is fine, but when I next go to use it some time later, the batteries are flat again. I eventually realised that the non OEM still uses power when it is not being used, so I have a piece of waxed paper that I place above the battery to break the circuit when I am not using it and now, like the Canon version, batteries last for ages.
