    Re: Is this forum dying?

Just before I typed this, there were 22 new threads, 19 of which were new photo threads, two lenses for sale and this thread. My anecdotal view seems to contradict your statistic...

    Re: Lens advice please

Ah. You don’t want to do that. It’s going to knacker quality.

    Re: Master of photography.

Bo, the point about Wildlife is well made and you’re also right about somewhere like Goodwood.

My wife and I have been watching since the first series and have alternated between learning...

    Re: Lens advice please

ISO 800 and 1/1000 should be fine on an M Series camera I would think. Pretty much confirms it's the lens doesn't it.

    Re: Lens advice please

It's possibly worth sharing one anyway because you may have a perfectly decent lens but used less than optimal settings (shutter speed) or massively high ISO which could both result in images that...

    Re: Master of photography.

Canon seem to have got this over Leica who've been providing kit for all series so far. It's a real shame in a way because it's essentially "Master of Photography that can be shot with a very limited...

    Re: Great Crested Grebe

That's odd, I can see white in the cheeks of the first one now where before it was black. Eye test time methinks.

    Re: Great Crested Grebe

Yep, Grebe in attack mode. We had a couple fighting over a female in our local lake a few weeks ago but I can't post any shots cos they were all taken with Fuji gear.

    Interesting colouration that...

Same here from Safari on a Mac. Expired at 9am this morning if I recall correctly...

John, I've reported your post to the Admins - it seems the quickest way to get a message to them...

Me neither. It’s a bait and switch operation IMHO and I won’t be taking part. Never mind that none of my pics were ever nicked...
  13. Re: Adobe Photoshop Elements 2019 or Serif Affinity Photo?

Me neither. It was probably the red wine
  14. Re: Adobe Photoshop Elements 2019 or Serif Affinity Photo?

It’s a tough one. On the one hand, if you’re familiar with elements then Affinity will be quite a culture shock as the basic edits you apply in pretty much all Adobe products don’t have equivalents...

    Re: EOS R and RP

I think your conclusion is correct Brian - I presume you're looking at an alternative for the possibility of having the card fail? If that's the case, as long as the photo is duplicated does it...
  16. Re: Is AF micro adjustment with EOS R needed ?

I’m pretty sure it’s not needed on a mirrorless camera for the reasons you suggest. Certainly it never comes up as a question on any of the forums I frequent and neither of my Fuji cameras - an X Pro...

    Re: Laptop Recommendations Please

Have you looked at the 2018 iPad Pro models? It may be a bit off the wall but I’ve used mine for over a year and don’t have a laptop. Lightroom works very well and Photoshop is on the way...
  19. Re: Canon to 'Pause' Development of EF lenses

Alan, I did a quick search and your problem with EVFs seems to be a more common problem with blue light and that there are lens types - for glasses not cameras - that may offfer some assistance. Not...
  20. Re: Canon to 'Pause' Development of EF lenses

Hmm, in my experience the bit you hold your eye up to on a DSLR is called the viewfinder and the other bit you can look at the screen and if you google “dslr viewfinder vs screens” that’s a...
  21. Re: Canon to 'Pause' Development of EF lenses

By definition you don't have an EVF on your DSLR. You do have live view on the screen which is not the same as an Electronic View Finder which is what an EVF refers to.
  22. Re: Canon to 'Pause' Development of EF lenses

I think the end of the DSLR era is on the way in the same way as SLRs and TLRs before them. Sadly in a way I think both Canon and Nikon have left this a bit late, not unrecoverably so but still later...

    Re: Image Stabilization

IMHO IBIS is more important in Mirrorless cameras where there seem to be more people that want to use adapted lenses - the stabilisation applies regardless of the lens so you can stick that old...

  25. Re: 'Luminar 3 with Libraries' Walk through

Sadly the first comment says it all. Effectively “Does it work with raw or is just jpeg”?

Luminar always looked really capable and the implementation is really nice, just so slow with some...
