    Re: Rannoch

You've echoed my thoughts exactly Colin. I try and keep adjustments to a minimum. But I'll definitely remove the odd twig etc if it appears to be growing out if a birds back/head. I've plenty of...

    Re: Rannoch

An oft discussed issue. We could discuss the accuracy of a captured image compared to what we see, given the massive difference in perceived contrast between the eye and the sensor. Also if shooting...

Very nice detail, often difficult to get the exposure right for the plumage on these birds.

Re: Wild or Captive, does it matter?

Quite agree with both Colin and John's comments.

Go to Skye often and whilst I've seen otters many times they have always to distant for photography. Really enjoyed taking images of them at BWC...

    Re: Great Crested Grebe

I do have the hub. On a basic level if you want to apply any of the updates that come out now and again you'll need one.

You can tweak various features, focus speed, etc.

    I've applied some...

Thanks everyone for looking and commenting. Was really lucky to have very still conditions. Only down side was sat in a popup hide for 4 hours in direct sun was like being in a sauna.

Re: Wild or Captive, does it matter?

I quite enjoyed some of the field craft needed to get some of the shots in Iceland. Stalking the ptarmigan through a lava field, laying on a small beach to photograph divers, phalaropes and grebes....

Re: Wild or Captive, does it matter?

No real issue as far as I'm concerned. I've been to the BWC and taken images of birds etc. Some of these are quite good, was also a good way to establish technique/ settings.

    I'm not keen on shots...

Together with blackcap these birds are singing like mad again near us. Suspect possibly chance these birds are breeding again this year.

Re: New addition to my kit

I used this lens with my 60D and still have it. Actually found it quite good optically. Only thing I would say to watch for is that's its quite easy to move the switches for AF, OS, etc
