I also prefer the first shot, for the same reason as Paul.

    Re: Mealasta Beach Long Exposure

At first glance, not looking at the sand, I thought this was an intentional camera movement shot rather than long exposure.
Really simple looking shot and very effective.

    Re: Dartford Warbler

Thanks for the info Trev, I'll try and visit. It'll make a change from using a 16-35 for most of the week.

    Re: Mealasta Beach

From a composition point of view, I agree with John that the foreground rock takes up too much of the shot and I would crop in from the right.
Having said that, I think the colours on some of those...

    Re: Dartford Warbler

Nice shot, made better by the yellow gorse.
I'm in Dorset for a week on Friday, staying at Corfe, mainly to do some landscape/seascape stuff. Is Arne a good place to try and see one, as I've only...

    Re: Emperor moth Caterpillar

I prefer the portrait Trev but can see why you and others would prefer the landscape crop.

    Re: Lincolnshire blue hour

I think Nigel’s edit greatly improves the overall composition of the shot but for me, there’s very little interest in the foreground.

    Re: Emperor moth Caterpillar

Lovely vibrant colours. I thought the same as Ian regarding a portrait crop, especially if there was a bit more room at the top.

Re: What passes for art today.

This is a photographic forum Ian. People post a photograph and then members give their opinions on it. Maybe your post would be more suited to a "what is art ?" forum, rather than the landscape...

    Re: Wasp Spider

Never seen one at Elmley but that's probably because I tend to drive along the track where you're not allowed out of the car, then turn around and come back.
I did know about the males having to...

    Re: Wasp Spider

Nice clear, detailed shot Stan. I used to drive 60miles to RSPB Rainham Marshes to see them but have now found a new location only 6 miles from me, on outskirts of Dover. At this new location, I...

Agree with the others, that zebra shot is really good, (maybe could have done with a tiny bit more room at the bottom though)
