    Re: Ptarmigan

Our guide was saying that last time he did this trip, a couple of years ago, they never saw one. After seeing this one we saw them in several different locations. Hope to post some other images as...

Another bird that we tend to see in the winter but breeds in Iceland

    Re: Redwing

We were blessed with exceptional weather so managed shots in good light. These redwings were nesting in an area of lupins which were intruduced to into Iceland to stabilise soil. As with lots of...

Thanks for comments. Iceland was a fantastic place for photography. Massively expensive though.

    Sabines Gull

Quite a rare visitor, Sabines Gull. Spends most time out at sea.

Beautiful and graceful, sometimes mistaken for juv kittiwake due to wing pattern. Though slate grey head with black neck band,...

    Redwing

Normally we are use to seeing redwing in the UK during the winter. But Iceland is part of their summer range and they breed there....

    Last Red Throated Diver

Seem to have lots of good shots of RTD, so I won't post more after this to bore you. At this time of year, in Iceland, sunset is about 12.30, not that it gets anywhere near dark.

    This shot was...

    Re: Red Throated Diver

I know what you mean use to go to Orkney to do bird photography and take 30-40 rolls of film and if you got 10% good shots from a roll that was reasonably good. I think now we can take a burst which...

Re: Bumblebee on Geranium Johnsonís Blue

Agree with Trev, think exposure could do with a lift too.

If the Flickr app on iPad is anything like on Android its a right pain in the proverbial. Much easier from desktop version.

Lots of decent images so might be more of RTD in future, some other species too.

    Re: Red Throated Diver

Quite strange really, IIRC in UK you need a license to photograph at the nest. On the reserve where I took this image a footpath went within 5m of RTD nest. In a load of reeds so not a photography...
