    Canon pro 9000

    Hi All,
New to forum. Epson R800 just died and now buying canon pro 9000 (when I can find a reasonably priced one in stock).
Have approximately 200 sheets of Epson premium glossy (A4). Does any one know were/if I can get out of the box ICC profiles for the Canon Epson combination
    Thanks in anticipation

You'd need a custom profile although the standard ones in the Canon should do fairly well.

    Why not the 2880?

      Hi,
      Thanks for the advice.
The 2880 is nearly £200 more, don't print enough to justify cost and just bought 5D mk 2 with 24-105mm. Only so much money available for us pensioners!

        Haha :)

        THere's also the R1900 & 1440

THe only concern I have is that it uses dye inks rather than pigment inks. My old canon dye inks smudged as soon as a tiny bit of liquid hit the page although I'm not sure oif current dye ink printers have overcome that.

Seems to get a good review here though

          Hi,
I can't find anyone who has the pixma 9000 in stock at a reasonable price. They seem to be in very short supply and the price is correspondingly high.

Could get the 9500 from warehouse express for similar price to 9000 but reviews are not that good.

Just looking at the HP B9180, looks promising . The baby model B5580 should produce the same quality photos but does not review well.

Yes the HP gets a decent review :)

Think also how much you'll print. You'd get an awful lot of prints for the price of this. I just can't see past epson now.

              Re: Canon pro 9000

As a user of both the 9000 and the 9500, I got rid of the 9000 and kept the 9500 as it is so much better as an allround printer.

If you ever want to print mono work, then the 9500 will be so far and away better.

I use Permajet papers, with their profiles and the colour work is outstanding too. All profiles for the 9500 are on the Permajet website for downlaod - I did them for them!!

Profiles are highly recommended. I use a Fotospeed CIS system with both Permajet and Fotospeed papers. With custom profiles the quality is amazing! I can't see any difference between the far cheaper fotospeed ink compared to the very expensive Epson inks.

Many thanks for your resposes, still leaning towards 9000, on order with Dabs and waiting for stock.

Just noticed that Warehouse Express have the 9500 on stock for ~£450 (£70 more than 9000) whereas the mkii is at least £100 more , worth a look?
                  9000 mkii £380
                  9500 £450
                  9500 mkii £550+

                  Any opinions?

You will not be disappointed! A superb printer (if expensive for inks)! All A3+ printers have that problem though!
