    Linaria stack

Five shots, manually focused and stacked in Helicon software. Shot in the studio with single studio flash head and reflector. The Linaria came from our garden. Shot with 5DM2 and Sigma 105mm macro.

All of the best shots look so simple .................... and this is very much so.

Very nice I like this sort of shot and think you have executed this one very well, very difficult to achieve if you were manually refocusing the lens between each shot

        Very nice indeed MM
I tried something similar (not stacking) using a flash & softbox behind the flower, and the flower lit from the front giving a pure white b/g.
I then eyedropped a colour from the flower to add a Stroke line around the image.

Just wondering - why photo stack an image like this?
I can understand a macro shot of an insect or some other subject stacked to achieve more DOF

Thanks, Sam. You are right about the manual focusing. I used to have a real problem, but fortunately I had cataracts removed 4 years ago and the optical lens implants they put in me have improved my eyesight, especially for photography, considerably. I took these without wearing my reading glasses. It certainly helps when taking shots.

              Beautiful colour against the white.

Lovely. It's simplicity is clearly a cover for a lot of skill on your part.

Yes, I do that quite a lot. If you pick the the right kind of flower you can get some nice detail with the back light. I do it with stacking too - studio flash is more consistent than a flashgun, so all the exposures are pretty much the same. I'll have to try the stroke line thing - never thought of doing that.

                        Thanks.
