I'm getting the same error multiple times this evening, I'm trying to post some images using Flickr code. I'm unable to post them at this point. I've tried Firefox and Chrome.

I've had the same error in the past, but for some reason, this evening it seems more persistent.

Andy,
Post the words you want to put with the images but without the images, then immediately go back to your post, edit it and insert the images.
This worked for me the other day. Do not ask me why or how because it does nor make sense, but it works.

Thanks David, I've tried. I've entered the post text and the Exif info and left out the Flickr code and that posted. I then tried adding the first images Flickr code and I got the 'enter at least 5 characters' message. I did and that didn't work either. This is very frustrating.

I could move the forum to a different server, but I am not sure that would help.

The "Enter at least 5 characters" message was doing my head in the other day when I posted an image. So I thought I would be smart and added a couple of new words that totalled more than 5 characters and still got the message.

I tried that too, also tried imgur photo code but to no avail. I'll have another try later.

I've tried 3 different browsers and I get the 503 error with them all.

A 503 error is usually a server issue. It can occur when the server is overloaded. However, there are lots of messages and images being posted successfully on this forum, so it is worth trying other remedies.

Have you tried restarting your computer and your router? To restart the router, just disconnect from the mains power for a minute or so and then reconnect. You might then need to wait a few minutes while the router reboots.

Thanks Robert, I will try the router restart tomorrow. The odd thing is that I only get the 503 error on this forum.

I tried to upload three photo's last night and got the dreaded message.
Gave up in the end.
I'll try again this evening.

Restarted the router, cleared browser cache (well, you never know) .... still unable to post my images. :-(

Edit: I should point out that I used to get the 503 message in the past, but only when I tried to preview a post prior to actually posting it.

Andy - the 'problem' impacted me for about 10 days. Went away as quickly as it came.

I'm not having any problem posting flickr images.... touching wood. Not sure if its any help, but at least now you know its not a problem with flickr and the site, I suppose.

Thanks Di, I've tried again just now and I still get the 503 message. I've managed to post with Imgur hosting though.
