I'm another that would clone the sign on number three, but number four is a cracker. I love it.

Re: Another visit to the Lake District

All good but the first is the stand out image, the lake leads you into the image quite gracefully, and I like how you have embraced the shadows, it adds an attractive mood to the composition.
4&5 with the angry skies are lacking a strong enough lead-in, with the road leading you out of the scene.
Concentrate on equipment and you'll take technically good photographs. Concentrate on seeing the light's magic colours and your images will stir the soul. - Jack Dykinga
Light makes photography. Embrace light. Admire it. Love it. But above all, know light. Know it for all you are worth, and you will know the key to photography- George Eastman

Thanks Les, it was the light that attracted me in 4 and 5.

Re: Another visit to the Lake District

A great set of images. As you may know from other posts, I am not a great cloner (probably because I am not deft at it) but if you were to take out all human influence from the photograph, you would remove the walls, the tree, plant some more trees and you might begin to look really "authentic". Of course I exaggerate, but there is nothing intrinsically ugly about the gradient sign!!! And even if there were, it is there!!!

Now I can climb off my soapbox and reiterate: Great set, Andy!

Lovely shots of a beautiful place. I would choose the birthday girl pic as my favourite. Adds a bit of colour, human interest with a very nice backdrop.

I like them all very much, Andy, even the ones you've combined with what I presume is HDR. My only request you have already touched on and that's that you should clone out the traffic sign, as it distracts from rather than adds to the photo.
                          Great shots
